Summer Tips
Check Your Filters: Restricted airflow from a dirty filter forces your system to work harder, which can lead to a frozen evaporator coil or system breakdown
Outdoor Unit Clearance: Trim back bushes, weeds, and grass at least two feet around your outdoor unit so heat can dissipate efficiently
Use Ceiling Fans: Run ceiling fans counterclockwise to create a wind-chill effect, making a room feel up to 4°F cooler
Window Coverings: Keep your blinds, curtains, and shades drawn during the hottest parts of the day to block direct sunlight.
Seal Leaks: Check for drafts around windows and exterior doors and use weather stripping or caulk to keep the hot air outside
Set Your Thermostat and Forget it: Set your thermostat to a comfortable, consistent, energy-efficient temperature and avoid changing it too often. Frequently adjusting the temperature causes your system to work harder and increases energy consumption. HVAC systems are designed to maintain a consistent temperature. Frequently changing the thermostat can cause the system to cycle on and off more often than it should, which can increase wear and tear on the equipment
There is nothing worse than a surprise breakdown in the heat of summer.
